The Energy Pack for Triple-Glazed Windows

Following Saint-Gobain’s glazing options, they have simplified the glass choices into a couple of categories.

Saint Gobain’s Energy uPVC Glazing Pack is among the most energy-efficient window options in the Yorkshire area due to the triple glazing. Common throughout continental Europe, triple glazing is being increasingly adopted across the UK. The Energy uPVC Glazing Pack has unmatched thermal insulation properties, which retain heat and result in a very low U-value. Simultaneously, it allows solar heat to enter your home, reducing heating costs. The additional pane in a triple-glazed window is incredibly secure while using Diamant low-iron glass to maximise daylight. Installing these triple-glazed windows can result in a Window Energy Rating (WER) of A+, the best energy efficiency rating possible.

The Energy Pack offers exceptional performance in several areas, energy efficiency being the primary. As a window becomes more energy efficient, it also tends to become more effective at winter performance and thermal control. The key features of the Energy uPVC Glazing Pack include:

  • Energy Savings Plus: The third pane of glass reduces your energy consumption and heat loss, making it among the most energy-efficient options.
  • Winter Comfort Plus: With three panes and two cavities to insulate your home from the cold weather outside, these window panes have maximum thermal control properties.
  • Daylight Comfort: The clear finish on all three panes reduces your need for artificial lighting and ensures crystal-clear views.
  • Security: Triple-glazed windows provide added protection from breakage, burglary, and vandalism with a secure additional pane of glass.

Pack Options

Saint Gobain’s Energy uPVC Glazing Pack uses Planitherm Total+ Low-e glass to create a comfortable temperature in your home, whether it is summer or winter. However, large windows that face south or west may benefit from one of the upgraded triple-pane glazing options. Installing Planitherm One FG on the inner pane of glass can make an immense difference in the window’s ability to reflect summer heat while maintaining its winter comfort features. You might also find the Energy+ Pack interesting if you would like an extra anti-condensation coating placed on the outer pane of glass.

Usual Configuration

The configuration of the Energy uPVC Glazing Pack involves three panes of glass. The outermost piece is a 4mm-thick pane of Diamant low-iron glass. On the innermost side of the window is a 4mm-thick pane of Planitherm Total+ energy-saving glass. Another 4mm-thick piece of Planitherm Total+ energy-saving glass is between these two panes. Windows of this configuration have two cavities, one between the outer pane and the middle pane and another between the innermost pane and the centre pane. These two cavities are created using a 14mm warm edge spacer, and the space between the windows is filled with highly insulating Argon gas.

Performance Data

The performance data of the Energy uPVC Glazing Pack shows how much impact the third pane of glass has on the insulating and heat retention of these windows. The result of the performance data for the Energy Pack includes:

  • 63% Heat Transmission
  • 72% Light Transmission
  • 74% UV Reduction
  • U-Value 0.7W/m2K
  • Indicative WER of A+
